Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE)

Slum Resident Survey at Jhilmil Colony, Delhi

At CURE, I was able to hone my skills in analyzing issues faced in urban sanitation and develop an understanding on various tenets of the solid waste management process and community building within informal settlements in Delhi.

Here, I conducted first hand respondent surveys at many slum sites under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, namely Ambedkar Camp in Jhilmil and Hasanpur Parts 1 and 2 near Hasanpur depot in East Delhi.

This experience taught me to be more humane and sensitive about the issues faced by residents of urban settlements, especially those in the lower-income strata of society.
